Biola Tak Berdawai

Biola Tak Berdawai English The Stringless Violin is an Indonesian film directed by Sekar Ayu Asmara. It was released by Kalyana Shira Film onMarch 2003, with wider release onApril. Telling the story of a rape victim who attempts to use music to heal an autistic boy, it was shown at the Cairo International Film Festival, where it secured a Best New Director award for Asmara. It was also Indonesias submission to 76th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.

Biola Tak Berdawai was directed by Sekar Ayu Asmara, a Jakartaborn selftaught director. It was her directorial debut. Asmara also produced the film and wrote the lyrics to the theme song.According to Asmara, Ria Irawan, Nicholas Saputra and Jajang C. Noer immediately accepted the offer to play in the film. However, the role of Dewa was filled by Dicky Lebrianto after casting in both Yogyakarta and Jakarta she notes that it was difficult as the person who played him had to be a nonhandicapped child capable of acting like he had a handicap. ........
